A theoretical approach between the assumptions of ideal sustainability and the Sociology of Absences by Boaventura Sousa Santos

Abstract

In view of the complexity of actions and interrelations between authors aimed at the achievement of ideal sustainability, it's important to question whether it is possible to think about it in societies under development, such as the Brazilian, based on intellectual technologies available, or, do we need to seek an epistemological alternative to overcome the dominant way of thinking scientifically about social relations? The purpose of this article is to establish a theoretical approach between the assumptions of sustainability and the Sociology of Absences by Boaventura Sousa Santos. Relying on account of some social experiences, in the third section we will highlight the possibilities of constructing the proposed dialogue. We conclude by making some provisional considerations related to the continuity of the discussion initiated herein to take into account, this time, the Sociology of Absences and Translation Work, parts that comprise the model of sociological literature of the societies under development practiced by Santos.
