Governance in clusters: an analysis of ceramic sector in Campos dos Goytacazes

Abstract

The purpose of this study is investigate the governance model adopted by the ceramic’s cluster in Campos dos Goytacazes and if it effectively contributes to the development of this cluster. This initiative is based on the perception that agglomerations of firms act as an important strategy for generating competitiveness. However, it starts from the premise that governance is a fundamental mechanism for its success. The methodology adopted to achieve this purpose consisted of an exploratory case study about the performance level of governance, analyzing its structural elements, actions implemented and the perception of entrepreneurs. By analyzing the results it was concluded that although it is an evolving process, the governance model adopted effectively contributes to the development of that agglomeration.
