Abstract

Instrumental rationality is linked to the industrial economic thought, while the substantive rationality is related to the comprehension of both the individual and his/her collective relations. In the productive dynamics of familiar agroindustries, these rationalities are manifested in the work, production and in the commercialization of products. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze how the socioeconomic relations in the productive dynamics of familiar agroindustries in the region of Missões, permeated in the territory, characterized by regional particularities, are influenced by the instrumental and substantive thought. We reached our objective through field research, which was based on a theoretical reference of the instrumental and substantive rationalities; also, familiar agroindustry. We interviewed 14 producers and applied 136 questionnaires. Productive activity is, mainly, artisan and the most produced products by the agroindustries are farinaceous, sugar cane derivatives and milk derivatives. The rationalities were identified and analyzed in the familiar production, with predominance of the substantive over the instrumental. In this sense, the instrumental thought is not more predominant than the substantive thought in the dynamics of familiar agroindustries. As a consequence, the Arranjo Agroprodutivo Familiar (AAPF) developed in this research is no longer using the term "industrial" in its title, because the focus is in the familiar productive dynamics that is, mainly, artisan, and not industrial. The intention is that this arrangement may serve as foundation for the construction or improvement of public policies, and improve the reality of the productive dynamics of familiar agroindustries.
