Abstract

The Local Productive Arrangement (LPA) is an innovative strategy in the context of profound changes on the competitiveness of organizations. In this article, we have aimed at making diagnostic research in 52 companies in the APL of a total of 68 organizations to understand the phenomenon of training and difficulties of local productive arrangement of the furniture segment (LPA of the metropolitan area of São Paulo). This research was conducted with support from the Brazilian Support Service for Micro and Small Enterprises (SEBRAE-SP), Union of Furniture Industry of São Paulo (SINDIMOV), the Association of Furniture Industries of São Bernardo do Campo (SIM-ABC) and LPA Furniture Paulista map allowing nine aspects of their industrial scenario, which are: human resources, production management, quality management, investments, technology, purchasing, distribution, marketing and services. The research method was used for the exploratory literature review and development of semi-structured interview form. To collect data, semi-structured interviews were conducted in participant observation to understand in depth the object studied. In the process of data analysis used descriptive statistics, sufficient to quantify the diagnostic research. The results show that there are difficulties in the industry, but the business has aroused the need to improve competitiveness through technology, exchange of information, best practices, partnerships, among others.
